Tasks & Targets

1. Task: Identify and compile climate related policies addressing museums in Europe (EU-27) on national, regional and local level.

• Target: 27 national policies, 5 regional, 5 local policies addressing museums.
• Details: Short summary of each policy and its relation to, and impact on museums in ENG. Policies can be provided in their original language. List of links to relevant policies.

2. Task: Collect good examples of museums from different countries implementing and utilizing those climate policies in their operations.

• Target: 5-6 examples from museums from different EU countries.
• Details: good examples provided in form of a summary in English plus picture illustrating the example.

3. Task: Set up a practical guide for museums to utilize and implement climate related policies that address them in their museum work.

• Target: 2 pages guide with bullet points.
• Details: step by step guide that includes practical support broken down in individual steps from identifying to implementing climate policies in your museum.

The study should not exceed 50 pages and contain:

• An executive summary of the research; a general introduction to the investigated climate policies and how they relate to museums generally;
• a compilation of climate related policies addressing museums in Europe (EU-27) on national, regional and local level; a compilation of good examples of museums from different countries implementing and utilizing climate policies in their operations;
• and a practical guide for museums to utilize and implement climate related policies that address them in their museum work.

Limitations & Budget

• Currently, not all climate related policies address museums specifically. Where no mention of museums is made, the research can be broadened to cultural heritage and/or culture sector at large. NEMO may add to or adjust the final report as needed. Publication design made seperately.
• The study should be finalised by 1 September 2023.
• The maximum budget for this research is 3.000,00 Euro (incl. VAT).
